A Week of Summer…

Here in Michigan it has been unseasonably warm and even hot and sticky at times. I do not mean to complain but we have bypassed spring and moved right on into summer temps. We all remark that we cannot recall a more mild winter and apparently today we will break a record that has been in place for 43 years. So children are everywhere, soccer balls and bikes whiz by our windows, hoses are already in use and the boys never want to come indoors. We have caught salamanders and might even need to start lawn work should this continue. It has been a fabulous week  and so much fun to see neighbors again after the hibernation. Funniest thing of all is having a toddler again. It is not fair how quickly we have forgotten what it is like to chase an almost two year old who is curious about the world. Ava is quite the social bug and never misses the opportunity to say “hi” with her charming high pitch. The boys run in and out and many times I think I should have built a large dog door that they could crawl through so I would not have to listen to the door slam a million times a day. Can you imagine… So now I have a toddler who needs to “go outside Mommy.” She asks 20 times a days. It will be an interesting season as she is now aware that we have 20 plus kids on our cal-de-sac who adore her. She loves all the attention and the fun.
