Over the past couple of days Bob and I had the opportunity to pour ourselves out and be filled right back up at the Christian Alliance for Orphan Care Summit held in Louisville, Kentucky at Southeast Christian Church. Our days were filled with conversation, learning and worship as we joined organization leaders, grassroots ministries, musicians and artists and ministry entrepreneurs who share our same passion for orphan care.
At the Summit we are called together to inspire, encourage, equip and breathe life into others and into the church to rise up and defend the cause of the Fatherless.
What I want you to know is that orphan advocacy is not just about asking families to adopt children. Instead it is a discussion and actions taken related to foster care, stopping human trafficking, education, helping indigenous people, legislation and building overall basic awareness. Orphan Advocacy as we saw it this weekend is restoring hope to the hopeless and spreading God’s word to to show love and bring about change through relationships and restoration for the broken.
There is a movement happening within our churches and we are seeing more people step out to reflect God’s heart in loving chldren who have nobody to call their own family.
This weekend God was full force at work in my heart, ushering me right into an even deeper compassion for the children who are waiting for us to step up and step out.
Please join me as I process and share notes, stories and places to plug in from the Summit. If you follow my blog you will automatically receive updates as I update on this topic.
…And so we love because He first loved us. We gather because we have been adopted, rescued and set in families.
